Welcome

SER CHO LING, meaning "Golden Dharma Realm," is the official North American seat of the Venerable Wangchen Rinpoche, the world's foremost contemporary master of the Thousand Armed Chenrezig fasting practice of Nyungne and a lineage holder of the Shangpa Kagyu Lineage of the Kagyu School of Tibetan Buddhism. Located in the foothills of the Sierra Nevadas in Central California, SER CHO LING was founded by Wangchen Rinpoche with the vision of providing students from all over the globe the opportunity to spend meaningful time in extended retreat. SER CHO LING is the site for a 25 Nyungne retreat which is led by Rinpoche every year in the Spring.

This website contains detailed information on Rinpoche's Dharma activities in North America, Asia and Europe, the annual 8 Nyungne retreat in Taiwan and 25 Nyungne retreat at Ser Cho Ling, and the upcoming visit of  His Eminence Kyabje Kalu Rinpoche to Ser Cho Ling following the first North American Shangpa Mönlam in Santa Fe, New Mexico.

Wangchen Rinpoche

Venerable Wangchen Rinpoche

May there be good omens to everyone. I would like to start with prayers to my supreme Guru that this upcoming year, and endless years and lives to come, will bring none other than the auspicious good experiences of health, happiness, and spiritual fortune for all our sangha members and for all fellow sentient beings.

Our center and our sangha group are playing an essential role in the growth of the Buddha Dharma in North America. From my own experience I can say that spreading the Dharma in America has not been an easy thing to do. Nevertheless, as a responsible spiritual person, I myself never gave up the task or the spiritual responsibility of helping to spread Buddha’s teachings in general, and Tibetan Buddhism in particular. After many years of sincere effort by my many enlightened masters, spiritual roots have taken place in American soil for the benefit of all humankind. For that I am truly happy.

I would like to say that our path is the path of enlightened ones, and therefore our responsibility is to make sure we do whatever we can to not defile this noble path, and furthermore to try to bring as many people as possible into the path.

I shall conclude with prayers of best wishes and inner peace and happiness for all.

Yours,

W. Rinpoche
